Building Hope, Saving Lives Capital Campaign
At New Life Center, we turn away three families for every one family we are able to help due to lack of space. We know too well the consequences for families unable to receive help.

According to the Arizona Coalition Against Domestic Violence, every year, more than 100 Arizona residents are killed due to domestic violence. Fully 10% of all domestic violence related homicides in the State occur in the West Valley.

The magnitude of this issue is particularly disturbing given the cycle of domestic violence. Children are silent victims and may be destined to repeat the pattern of abuse. Research shows that children who are raised in violent homes have a high likelihood of becoming either abusers or victims when they reach adulthood. At New Life Center, 65% of the resident population is children.

The Building Hope, Saving Lives construction project relates to New Life Center’s mission by addressing the critical need for additional beds for families fleeing domestic violence and by addressing the cycle of domestic violence by providing an appropriate facility in which to deliver targeted interventions to child survivors.

The proposed project will add 40 beds to our existing 64-bed facility. In addition, we will add a Child Development Center to provide space for services for child residents of the Center. The building will offer discreet areas for children of differing ages: a soundproof nursery in which infants may nap; a toddler play area; a library/computer center for use of teens and adults; a group advocacy room for the use Child Advocates conducting group sessions, art and music therapy; private offices for the Child Advocates; and, an large storage unit to store the voluminous amount of residential items needed for our resident population.
